Mr. Ostrow is the Managing Partner and founder of
Kopelowitz Ostrow (KO). In addition to overseeing the day to day
operations and the strategic direction of the firm, he also maintains a
full-time law practice in the areas of consumer class actions, business
litigation and transactions, and catastrophic personal injury. In
connection with his commercial representation, he currently serves as
counsel to multiple Fortune 500 Companies. He has been quoted many
times on various legal topics in most major newspapers, including the
Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, Seattle Times,
Miami Herald, and Sun-Sentinel. He has also appeared on CNN, ABC, CBS,
FoxNews, ESPN, and other major national television networks in
connection with the representation of his clients.
Mr.
Ostrow is an accomplished trial attorney who represents both Plaintiffs
and Defendants. He has successfully tried to verdict numerous cases
involving multi-million dollar damage claims before both juries and
judges in state and federal Courts. Currently, Mr. Ostrow serves as lead
class counsel in proposed nationwide and statewide class action
lawsuits against United Health Care and Blue Cross Blue Shield of
Florida, respectively, for their failure to properly pay health plan
benefits to their members. He has also served as co-lead counsel in
class actions against Microsoft, in connection with the Xbox 360, as
well as eleven of the largest oil companies related to ethanol in
gasoline. In addition to representing Plaintiffs, Mr. Ostrow also has
defended corporations in class actions, including banking institutions,
real estate developers, and mortgage companies.
In
addition to the foregoing, Mr. Ostrow has extensive experience in all
variations of business litigation and has handled complex corporate
transactions. On the corporate side, he often serves as outside General
Counsel to companies, where he counsels clients in connection with
entity formation and compliance, mergers and acquisitions by and between
private and public entities, and all types of contracts, including,
employment agreements, profit plans, protective covenants, and
shareholder and operating agreements. In 2010, he has already
represented clients involving transactions that range in value from
$37,000,000 to over $50,000,000.
Prior
to founding the firm, Mr. Ostrow was in-house counsel for a major
national corporation. He received a Bachelors of Science in Business
Administration from the University of Florida and Juris Doctorate from
Nova Southeastern University. Mr. Ostrow is a member of The Florida Bar
and is admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern,
Middle, and Northern Districts of Florida and the U.S. Court of Appeals
for the Eleventh Circuit. He has also been admitted to practice in
several other federal districts around the country. He is a member of
the American Bar Association, Broward County Bar Association, American
Trial Lawyers Association and Florida Justice Association.
Mr. Ostrow is a
lifetime member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. The Million
Dollar Advocates Forum is the most prestigious group of trial lawyers in
the United States. Membership is limited to attorneys who have won
multi-million dollar verdicts. Additionally, he has been named as one of
Florida's "Legal Elite
Attorneys," a finalist for the "South Florida Business Journal's Key
Partners Award," one of the top
lawyers in Florida by "Super
Lawyers," and is a Member of "Cambridge Who's Who Among Executives
and Professionals." When not
practicing law, Mr. Ostrow serves on the Board of Governors of Nova
Southeastern University’s Wayne
Huizenga School of Business, is a Member of the Broward County
Courthouse Advisory Task Force, and is the Managing Member of Las Olas & Andrews, LLC, a commercial real
estate development company. He has also previously sat on the board of a
National Banking institution and national healthcare marketing company. |
